Maybe you could ask Luke he's really good with hardware repairs. His You tube name is Lukemorse1.

Odd that the wire being fixed would make it work less... Hmn. I wish I knew about them, because I really might be able to help you otherwise.
I had a slightly related experience a few months ago: Got some Atari 7800 "euro" controllers, and the wiring on one of them was frayed. I spent 2 hours half-breaking the case to cut and rewire the thing, but I got a very good controller out of it finally, albeit with a shorter cord. :D
I would contact the seller and see WTF was up. Good luck bro.

I don't know what to say dude. Talk to the old owner, get some answers. If he doesn't talk get your money back. This answer is if you can't get it fixed, sell it!
I think I'm just gonna sell it and get a new one. The seller claims that he had no way of testing it, which is strange because, why would you buy one if you didn't have an nes? Let alone 4 of them? That's right, he sold 4 gloves. Screw that guy. He's gonna get terrible feedback.
