for the kroot, put them in squads of ten and add in 5 hounds per squad. It comes in at exactly 100 points. P.S., the actual hound models are extremely expensive, so I got "Chaos Warhounds" from the Warhammer Fantasy line, you get ten in a box so that will get two squads down. Not only are hounds cheaper than kroot (so walls for cover saves will be less expensive), but they have initiative 5 (you'll attack first against marines).

Kroot can be very useful, they have no armour which spells out 'cannonfodder' , or, you can really mess the enemy up, take advantage of the feildcraft ability (3+ c saves in trees), i have 2 squds of 20, keep them in trees and ambush any aproaching enemy within 12" by firing 80 s4 shots at 3bs, after that the enemy will have lost some significant casualties, if he is foolish enough to assault you into difficult terrain i still get a maximum of 160 attacks and 3+saves :D

Hey, in this edition Kroot are ESSENTIAL! THEY ARE NO LONGER AN OPTION, they win games. It comes down to tactics.

put the fire warriors in front of the kroot. when the enemy gets close, send the kroot through the fire warriors for close combat. worked 4 me!

@Kommando606 you just have to leave them near your fire warrior teams so if they get jumped then the kroot come out and attack
