Kinematic Machine

A demonstration of a kinematic machine, used to teach fundamentals of mechanical engineering. A selection of kinematic machines from the collection of The Ohio State University's Department of Mechanical Engineering are included in the exhibition Objects of Wonder from The Ohio State University, on view September 26, 2008 - January 11, 2009

The Columbus Museum of Art and The Ohio State University have shared a passion for knowledge and collecting for more than one hundred and thirty years. Objects of Wonder from The Ohio State University takes its cue from the age-old cabinet of curiosities, which displayed an astonishing range of objects, from the scientific to the artistic. @presward I think this Machine is demonstrating the potential unpredictability of a Unconstrained kinematic chain thus the erratic movements, however the multiple anchor points dictate the motion of the mechanism. it is fun to watch
