Auto Siphon

I've broken 4 of these autosiphons while siphoning beer. 2 broke at the neck trying to get the hose off the siphon. 2 broke when some hops jammed in the bottom and popped out this 1cm plastic valve piece that rendered the siphon useless. If these didn't break they would be extremely valuable tools.

Very cool unit, is the auto siphoner easy to keep clean and sterile??

Thank you for the quick response too!

What is the foam that's in the secondary fermenting carboy? I'm assuming it's the residual fm the sanitizer you used... but, I didn't know you could LEAVE it in there like that!! What sanitizer do you use/recommend? I've been using Sod. Metabisulphite (all that's available within 100 mi) and I've been afraid of leaving even a trace of it when I brew. Could you elaborate on that process more? Or, even better... do a video on it ;^)
It's as easy to clean and sanitize as any other racking cane ... a tall (carboy, bucket, or keg) or long & shallow vessel (like a wallpaper tray) full of sanitizer does the trick.

We used Star San, which doesn't require rinsing. We didn't include all the thrilling footage of the wine slowly being siphoned, but if we had you'd see most of the foam in the receiving carboy get pushed up and out as it filled with wine.
