  • what if i want the data doubler alone without the tools? i already have the tools. 65$?

  • @Th33M33 The tools come as part of the product, more of a value addition than a factor of the cost.

  • @OWCmacsales ok, im not trying to be rude but i checked amazon out there's 2 products that do the same thing as this u offer and they are 13-18 bucks. can u explain to me what im missing? thanks

  • @Th33M33 Couple of things actually. Our annodized aluminum / open design assists with cooling. The PCB circuit bard used can transmit data at up to SATA 6Gb/s speeds (wasn't able to find that on any other listing). And we've heard from several customers that went that route first that the reliability on other designs is questionable. See for yourself in the customer reviews on the product page.

  • @OWCmacsales ok but my macbook pro mid 09 is onlt 2gb/s sata right? and one other thing it will support a 1 tb hd right? thanks

  • @Th33M33 The MacBook Pro Mid-2009 have a SATA 3.0Gb/s system bus in both the hard drive and optical drive bays. Yes, it will support 1.0TB drives (up to 9.5mm in height).

  • @OWCmacsales thanks really appreciate the help here i was really confused to wither i get 16$ vs 65$ lol. im getting one next week for my 1 TB for media storage. thanks again.

  • do i have to reinstall my applications and OS in the SSD so it can run faster?

  • It's the connector. The Data Doubler replaces a SATA optical drive. Prior machines used an ATAPI (aka IDE/ATA) optical drive.

  • @OWCmacsales alright thanks anyway, and what is the part that dose not allow it to work?
