Calling Japanese people "japs" is like calling Germans "krauts". Is calling Germans "krauts" racist? Of course not. Calling Japanese people "japs" is disrespectful and bigoted, but the disdain can be based on culture, not race.

@yowzephyr It's ethnocentric, not racist. People don't understand the difference. Ethnocentrism is when you look down upon a culture. It's often mistaken for racism, because often the ethnocentric person IS also racist. But you can't be SURE that the ethnocentric person is also a racist.
