Emma is such a busy body! She COMPLETLY ruined that girls chance at love!

I prefer Jeremy Northam as Mr. Knightly coz I can't bloody read that guys expression unless he's angry

Whatever Emma's flaws, Knightley is just as problematic in his own way. He is very set in his ideas of class and social standing. He views Harriet as "inferior" because she was born out of wedlock and admits that he is also against Harriet's match with Robert Martin because she is not "useful" and Martin could "do much better" and that it is "nonsense" that she might aspire to marry a "gentleman."

I imagined Harriet to be prettier when I read the book. But, I suppose the director had a better idea of how Harriet was supposed to look like. Beckinsale is great as Emma, exactly as I imagined her to be :)))))

My thoughts exactly! Jane Austen was rumored to have changed a lot when she wrote Emma.

wow emma is stupid! wow im surprised that jane austen made emma so so mean. wow because most of her main characters are sweet, witty, and fun...she acts more like miss bingley then anything

Both is version and the new Emma are by the BBC.

emma in every version is a horrible girl when messing into other's lives. i've seen them all and non of the emma's are any better than this one. they all seem to be very selfish.

I have to say I've watched the BBC version and now I'm watching this and both adaptations have made Mr Elton sufficiently creepy. He's so annoying and Emma is so lost in thinking his attention was for Harriet.
