Space Exploration Technologies or 'SpaceX' has already flown their single engine rocket, the Falcon 1, successfully twice. Now it's time to move on to bigger and badder things: the rocket with 8 additional Merlin engines and aptly named Falcon 9. One of the biggest changes between the Falcon 1 and Falcon 9, besides the engines, is the use of Florida's Cape Canaveral as a launching location.

  • Blast it. I missed that webcast.

  • We have the on-demand version online now. Check the Spacevidcast site for details or search for Sy Liebergot on Spacevidcast or YouTube.

  • what are the four towers for ?

  • Lightning rods. Don't want big bolts of lightning to hit the rocket causing a huge explosion or damage to the electronics.

  • @Kapitananime lmao you fucked up man.

  • 0:55 - 1:08 Demolition #FAIL

  • @spacevidcast I suppose that would only benefit the FrankensteinX :)

  • Besides the fact that Falcon9 being much safer than Ares 1. Falcon9 is estimated to have a recurring cost of almost $45.8 Million per flight. Ares 1 is estimated to have a recurring cost of almost $1Billion per flight. Falcon 9 carries 7 people while Ares 1 only carries 5 people.

  • Propaganda!

  • I like that a Google ad for discounts on space rockets popped up. Buy a Falcon 9 stage fairing! Only slightly damaged. Otherwise, thanks for the promo--I have hopes that the Falcon series is advancing the craft of rocketry while dropping the cost of payload lifting; I like the idea that it is combines the traditional rocket staging stack with current developments. I'm curious though, what fuel prices are going to do to the use of RP-1.

  • falcon-9-dragon test date 8 may 2010!...(first of 3 tests)

  • I couldn't believe it. She's just like Meg.
