In light of the apparent homophobic slurs in the NBA and NHL, I am calling on both leagues to follow Major League Baseball in reaching out to our LGBT youth who need them.

  • To be fair, I'm sure Kobe didn't believe that the ref was a homosexual. He didn't mean it like that.

  • @freakylocz14, Kobe then should be more responsible with the words he chooses to use.

  • @SeanChapin1 The problem is that words like "gay", "faggot", etc. are commonly used as general slurs even when people don't wish to attack LGBT people. "You're gay" means you're stupid, not that you're a homosexual, among many young people

  • @freakylocz14, there is no excuse to involve an historically and currently persecuted minority group in slurs, and really there is no excuse to even use slurs, those people who don't wish to attack LGBT people yet say these kind of slurs have an opportunity to mature and take a higher road.

  • Sorry Sean, but this is one video that I have to disagree with you on. People say these words want a reaction, and this video gves them what they want. But if we ignore them, then they stop using them.

  • @Laughtraxx, I would say the exact opposite - we must never be silent to each other. Never.

  • Wow these are the people the guys at my school look up to? No wonder they say it a million times a day in the halls and stuff.

  • Way to go Sean, awesome !!

  • @jessemmartin Ha ha "jiggy with it" I'm glad that one didn't catch on. I think I used that just one time and she didn't know what it meant.

  • @SillyGayBoy Forgot to add, GOOGLE George Carlin's Seven Dirty Words

  • @SillyGayBoy AGREED!! IMO. Let's say after Kolbe Bryant mouthed off, even tho he didn't mean it "that way", to the ref and a fan of the opposing team had yelled something at Bryant including the word nigger even if he "didn't mean it that way" what would have happened?

People like Bryant and ND's Kelly et.al., should be FIRED on the spot for unprofessional behaivior.

  • @46619TAB Not sure what the "seven words" are I'll have to look it up later. Yeah people that are part of a minority shouldn't impose bad views on other minorities. It's part of male aggression in sports in hostile moments and stuff; I guess, but people need to control themselves better then this. It's a job. I wouldn't mouth off everyone at my job just because I had a bad day. We need to be more professional then that and higher ups need to come down on it and not silently agree with it.

  • @SillyGayBoy Kobe, being African American, MORE THAN ANYONE should realize slurs hurt even if he didn't mean it 'that way'.

  • @46619TAB Agreed. Guys too often get a slap on the wrist for something anti gay. There was also an issue with a SouthWest airline where someone ranted about gay people (and other things like women) taking up multiple airwaves unintentionally. This was a horrible thing he did if you read about it and he wasn't even fired just a suspension and had to take a class.

  • @Laughtraxx At you Laughtraxx I call BS as I was called "Faggot" every day at school throughout much of 10th grade by more guys between classes then you would believe. Ignoring it taught them they could get away with it and it escalated and got worse every single day.

  • I emailed this to Sean as well, but it was pretty funny, a guy at work said "faggot" one day and I told him that 1983 called and wants its slang back. Even beyond hurtfulness, it's bizarre that anyone uses something so obviously outdated anymore. Maybe they're too busy "gettin' jiggy wit' it" to notice the world has changed...

  • @emerald95519 WELL said! Back when I was a kid in school, the word Gay meant to be happy, light hearted, frivolous. Fag was a cigarette.

I was teased in school because of my name and lack of sports ability in gym class. There's a MAJOR difference between being teased and being bullied and I can't wrap my mind around what the Gay or 'perceived as Gay' kids must be enduring that leads them to off themselves.

Something has to be done to STOP THIS SHIT too many futures are being lost!
