Back emf currents seem to be high from these big coils. I call them big cuz the wire is thick. =]

Using a diode to dump the bemf back into the coil as to not let it back through the reed and rest of the circuit, just as we were taught back in electronics class to avoid the spikes from damaging other parts of the circuit. Its funny that they never told us that there was usable power just being wasted this way. Hmmm. Well this bemf is creating some significant heat on this diode. And I show a preview of my next vids I will do tomorrow.

Pure Teslas invention. In Don Smiths version there are only some resistors added for tuning. But there are still some interesting thoughts about how to harnest magnetic felds more efficent.

Eventually I will get into Tesla type setups. I am very interested in Don Smiths device which is basically a Tesla coil setup but the primary is in the center of the secondary in which he claims will amplify the POWER not just the voltage. Imagine using a 12v bat to run a smaller neon transformer ans the output can run a whole house! Air cores my friend. The Tesla advantage.

Makes sence - it explains why iron core transformers loose there efficency when the frequency is raised. This may be the reason why Tesla never used iron cores.

So air core will have the highest speed collapse of all, there by producing a very quick bemf pulse, of which the speed of the collapsing magnetic field passing back through the coil should produce more bemf per power used to produce the initial field.
