1. Iscador is an extract of a mistletoe plant that grows on trees in many parts of the world. Interesting fact about mistletoe -- it does not grow on healthy trees. And removal of the mistletoe from the tree results in the tree's death.

2. Almost a century ago Austrian philosopher Rudolph Steiner, the founder of anthroposophical medicine, a movement focused on the spiritual component to health and illness, suggested that mistletoe could be effective in treating cancer. Dr. Ita Wegman in 1917 developed the first "mistletoe medicine", an inject-able form of the mistletoe extract. Iscador production was first carried out by the highly respected firm called Weleda AG, but it is now produced by the Hiscia Institute which belongs to the Society for Cancer Research.

3. One of the primary functions of Iscador is that it stimulates parts of the immune system that can slow the growth of cancer cells and does so with very limited side effects. Iscador therapy is being used for almost a century in many European clinics, for example, the Lukas clinic in Switzerland. In the United States, however, it is virtually unknown, and not approved by the FDA.

4. As for mistletoe's efficacy in treating cancer, studies showed that mistletoe extract kills cancer cells and boosts the immune system. The evidence from human studies, however, is inconclusive. Some studies show that individuals who took mistletoe extract in addition to their conventional medical treatment lived 40% longer; others say there is no significant benefit.

5. Still, by some estimates, 40 percent of French and up to 60 percent of German cancer patients receive mistletoe extract, so may be it does make a difference after all. The scientific research continues, so hopefully we will have a more definite answer soon.

  • Isn't Taxotere an extract of yew tree needles?

  • @dmberndt Tamoxifen is. Not sure about Taxotere. All drugs attempt to mimic the metabolic pathways of substances. Drugs can be patented but natural substances can't. Thus, Big Pharma's push for drugs in health.

  • @EncognitiveVids I am sorry, if you say that TAMOXIFEN (estrogen antagonist prescribed for pre-menopausal women who were dignosed with ER+ breast cacer) is an extract of yew tree needles, while you are not sure about Taxotere (Docetaxel -taxol-family chemotherapy drug), that gives me an exact image of your (lack) of knowledge in regards to breast cancer treatment. A simple google would have give you the proper information and avoided you making such a huge faux step.

  • @dmberndt I'm not sure what exactly your point is. You wrote, "A simple google would have give[n] you the proper information..." Then why didn't you google Taxoters yourself? Is anyone here getting paid to google information for you? You seem to have a false sense of entitlement.

  • @EncognitiveVids FYI, Tamoxifen and Taxotere (Taxol) are both extracts of the yew tree.

  • can you please cover Iodine and amla powder..plus that Guana-something plant that cures cancer ? :) (an flouride. I havent seen albur vids tho this is the first. Ill look arnd)

  • @GzLessonz More info. @ encognitiveDOTcom .Do a search and tLots of info on the website on those topics.

  • @EncognitiveVids Taxotere does not equal Taxol. They are similar, but not equal. Tamoxifen might have been produced from the Pacific Yew tree in the past, but at the present (and for years) is a lab synthetic product. My sense of entitlement comes from the simple reason that I am a breast cancer survivor, an alternative therapist, and believe me, I did and still do plenty of research on the subject.
