  • That was AWESOME! You obviously know what you are talking about and you hit on many interesting tips i will be sure to remember. Got a violin for Christmas and I should have watched this video before trying to tune it because I broke the G string by giving the big peg too much of a twist. Violin is nothing like a guitar.

  • @kidairbag9 Thank you! Glad I could help!

  • I've watched some 4 videos with instructions before getting to this, and yours was the only one that really showed me how to go about this. Thank you!

  • @hathawyn Thanks for taking the time to let me know. I'm glad that this helped!

  • Greetings,

i have this really major problem. each time i turn the tuning pegs and when i move on to the next string to tune, i will hear this short and sharp crack sound. Then all the strings will go out of tune again. When i re-turn the pegs again, i hear the same sound after awhile, and all the strings will go out of tune again. It cannot be the tuning pegs being lose as mine are rather tight and firm. As for the bridge, i adjust it each time i see it going forward. please help me. Thank You

  • @danblink Make sure that the pegs are fit correctly to the pegholes. If they are, then you should use some peg drops or peg compound. It sounds like your fiddle is in a very dry environment. You should probably get some kind of a humidifier for your fiddle. They are very inexpensive and it will help with this problem. We see this in our fiddle shop all the time as the weather changes. It's very annoying!

  • i am musically inept. thanks a lot for this video! helped a lot.

  • Nice explanation, thank you!

Now I can do it myself.

  • @Superbloooooo You need to make sure that the bridge remains in an upright position as you are tightening the strings. As the strings get tightened, they are going to pull the top of the bridge forward and eventually cause the bridge to pop out if you don't correct this constantly as you tune. If it still pops out, then there is something wrong and you need to have someone knowledgeable take a look at the bridge.

  • Hi there, I just got my new violin today and i installed the bride myself. But the problem is that when I try to tune my strings with the pegs, if I need to go a pitch higher, then the bridge snaps out. I think this is because the strings are too tight, but I'm not sure. And it's not helping to use the fine tuners. I don't have a private violin teacher at the moment so I cant asked any experienced players to help. Please respond a.s.a.p. because I really need help.

    Thank You
