When you first plug it in the power light should turn green. The modem will do a quick flash of the first four lights indicating it's beginning it's conversation with the cable company.

****If the power light does not turn green, that indicates a potential problem with the modem. Try plugging the modem into a different power outlet. If that doesn't work, most likely you have a defective modem.

If your computer or router is connected to the modem properly you'll see the PC Activity light as steady amber and the receive light will flash and then go solid green. The Send light will then flash and then go solid and then the online light will flash.

****If the PC Activity light isn't amber, that indicates a potential problem with the connection on the router or the computer. This could be an ethernet cable unplugged or a defective ethernet connection.

When you see the online light go solid green that means you have an established proper connection with your cable company and the PC/Activity light should flash amber meaning traffic is being passed.

****If the Online, Receive or Send continue to flash, this indicates a problem with your connection to the cable company but your modem is most likely working properly.

  • I have a question: I directly use my modem with my ps3 to connect to the internet to play online, but somehow today, it just loses its connection and the "Receive" and "Send" lights start blinking kind of alternatively. And ultimately it'll be about half an hour at most until I can be connected again. But then after a few minutes, it'll do it again mid-match and it's lost. I've never really had this problem, and I've tried the flushdns with my laptop but it's happened 5 times today. Any advice?
