first of all you need to use the down b on stage (or at least so it lands on stage) then when you use it off stage like with marios if you repeatedly hit the b button you will start to rise, you can influence the direction with the control stick but you have to be careful not to do this before youve started the animation or it can quite easily beomce a headbutt instead.
