Tour the Destin Harbor! Click "Show More!"

The HarborWalk Village on the Destin Harbor is a N FL Hidden Jewel!

Long ago In 1839 while sailing in the Gulf of Mexico an expedition of three ships were hit by a hurrican near Cape Canaveral. One ship managed to safely reach shore. The sea battered expedition lead by Leonard Destin arrived on Florida's Northwest coast in search of supplies and new opportunities. Leonard began to offer jobs to young men who came to the area looking for work during the fishing season. Some of the fisherman were so taken by the Destin area that they stayed and made Destin their permanent home. Many of the boats used by the local fishermen were built at Destin's East Pass. Leonard Destin and his young anglers would regularly run their small boats a short distance from shore and cast their nets, fishing all day. The day's bounty was then transported to Pensacola and sold at the local market. Leonard Destin became known at Destin's Founding Father. The oldest seine boat in existence, the Primrose, is currently displayed at the Destin History and Fishing Museum located at 108 Stahlmlan Avenue in Destin (850-837-6611 for more info).

Destin is no longer a small fishing village. In 1984, the city of Destin was organized into a municipality. Through the years visitors to Destin have spread the word about their vacation paradise to friends and family. Folks tend to return year after year and their grown children come back with their children. What brings them back is the incredible emerald green waters, the quartz white beaches and the atmosphere of being in paradise. Visit TourEmeraldCoast.com and make your vacation rental reservation today and bring the family!

In the past few years there have been exciting developments along the Destin Harbor. From Okaloosa Island, approaching Destin from the west, continue over the Destin Bridge and look to your right... you can't miss the impressive towers of the Emerald Grande Condo buildings. Next to the Emerald Grande on the harbor side you will find a magical, storybook village known as HarborWalk Village complete with a light house, marinas, docks, harbor side shopping, wonderful restaurants and exciting nightlife entertainment!

There is much to choose from... world class fishing excursions, dolphin sunset cruises, sailing, diving and water sport rentals for jet skis, party pontoon boats and wind surfing. A trip to Destin would not be complete without checking out popular Crab Island, which is not an island at all... but a floating community of dozens of boats in all sizes and colors temporarily anchored in the beautiful emerald green waters near the Destin Bridge (the warmer months bring more boaters). Float on over to Crab Island and join the party!

Seasonal Festivities are hosted at the Destin Harbor throughout the year. The festivities NOT to miss are: the New Year's Eve celebration, Mardi Gras, the Cobia Fishing Tournament, Memorial Day, 4th of July, the Destin Seafood Festival, Octoberfest, Winefest, the Destin Fishing Rodeo and Christmas festivities. The awesome fireworks over the harbor are a Must See!
