George Carlin vs Bill Hicks vs Marketing

The difference between Hicks and Carlin was that Hicks was an Optimist at heart and actually wanted to make the world better, while Carlin believed that there was literally nothing we could do about it sucking. Seeing it from that angle, I think you can see why Hicks was a hold-out and Carlin didn't care that much about his "moral" obligations, he had a message in his words and his act, it would be a massive shame to miss either of their messages for such a personal trifle.

Bill Hicks a true human

Oops, the USA is already NAZI Germany...

Hicks and Carlin are beyond the usual train of thought and I really hope Americans grasp reality before it's too late and the USA becomes NAZI Germany...

After reading some of your peoples comments I truly feel let down and disappointed by all of your people..100% of Hicks's message and the majority of Carlin's was TO CHALLENGE THINGS. Contemplate them and form YOUR OWN Opinion on the matter... You people are blindly and in great number falling behind Carlin's shadow and dropping to his knees...
You aren't even taking in his initial message to begin with?!?!?!
Just because you may not agree with the commercial doesn't mean HATE CARLIN 4EVER...

@OurTVproductions (Cont'd) say the things in which he has said.....& throughout his career he only associated himself more with the things he has down talked or advised to avoid, to elaborate. He began as a DJ, to Stand up, to Authoring 2 books, to doing several movies and an appearance on Inside The Actors studio..These things draw him closer to the things he's warning us of.. I do agree with many things Carlin says but I fully agree with you and I just wanted to elaborate on that so ppl can C

@OurTVproductions Even though I agreed with the things he has said, ever since my introduction to a) George Carlin b) The satanic forces at work in our small little world (It is essential that a person knows the things carlin & hicks talk about independently, on their own merit, so by the time carlin & hicks or anyone else speaks on these matters there are right there along with them or they know when they are being fed a line of bs) I have felt that to a degree Carlin was "Permitted" to ( 1/2)

George Carlin isn't a "do what i say not as i do" guy he portrays the opposite constantly so does hicks and any other libertarian..they're not bossy, they're suggestive...not serious, cos you should be lookin after yourself.

the motives of George were his, and has nothing to do with us, and Bill's opinions were his, and even if he was a great thinker, as i think George was, too
both of them are from different generations, education, experiences, motives, and ideas, they don't think the same, and that's better
i think it is very stupid to suggest that george was an hypocrite, or that bill would think something wrong about him, this is misleading

@davesqueakywheels actually if you keep listening to the bit by bill hicks, he pretty much says what you say
"if you're young, if you're only up and coming and you need to money ok I'll look the other way"
-
george carlin needed the money. he made a mistake, no one's perfect, even though i like to think georgy is, cuz if anyone is it's him (sorry religous community). he did a commercail, sure, but does that water down all the mental break throughs he had? all the amazing points he had on life, all the realizations he had that he brought to us in the form of comedy? i don't think so. he made a mistake when he was young, don't hang him for it, you've all probably done worse.
I get your point of the video I just think you generalize the Hicks quote. Sure Carlin did a commercial, but he was just an up and comer at that point and it's easy for people to say "Well I don't care if I was starving or whatever I would never be like this or that, etc." It all sounds good until you're desperate and actually in that position. Hick was talking about Leno & other entertainers who didn't need th money and were sell-outs and who don't deserve to be in the presence of Carlin+Hicks

@davesqueakywheels -- it wasn't early in his career that he did a commercial. In fact he was about 40 when he did his last commercials. My stance, you might as well take out the Hick's quote. Essentially what I gave you all was a moral dilemma with a figure whom you all respected. If I tell you now that I believe commercials make us mindless drones and are evil works of the devil and then turn around tomorrow and do a commercial... what would you call me? A hypocrite, right? But not Carlin..
