It's spelled with an "e" but it is pronounced forte. I take French in school and forte means somthing that you are strong in or good at. In french it is also pronounced fort which is probably why you are confused.

It is spelled with an "e" on the end so a reader can determine its definition, but it is prounouced as "FORT"

forte 100%. Well atleast in proper English not sure about american. You say "my fort is in screwing in lightbulbs"? (took me forever to come up with an example and I just looked at my lamp :P). Forte is actually French for Strength while in English it is Strong point.
