Playstation belting out the Needles as wind builds near 50 knots in a soon to be aborted cross channel record attempt(2002?). The next day they broke the Round Isle of Wight record instead. Tornado driver Roland Gaebler helming... or in this case just hanging on to its tails!!! Sit down, shut up...and hold on! You gotta love those big bows.

  • According to my girlfriend who was onboard... it was gusting up to 50 when they turned around shortly after the footage was taken. Not record breaking conditions. The boat was only doing 27-28 knots in this clip. Obviously going any quicker wouldn't have been...errr, prudent! Still, impressive display of Playstations 'Truckability'.

  • Great to see "She is back in the hunt" Bon voyage!

  • Ha ha I was looking for the people on deck & couldn't see any. Damn that's a big boat.

  • saw this boat in palm beach in about 2002 i think

  • omg look at that speed.. and they dont even have full sails up :)

  • You've got some serious wind here.

  • The boat is now March 2009 at Alameda Island, Nelsons Marine.

  • Bottom of the ocean, she hit a shipping container and broke up.

  • not even full sail up ?

  • super awesome video!!

  • if you want any info on playstation or any of the other super-maxi cats or tri's then u should read a book called 'The Race' it is all about the worlds most testiung round the world sailing race. it goes thru the southern ocean which has waves that would make a tsunami proud and that would easily reach around 20m in height on average. winds in the high 80s. and thats knots, no kilometers. it is also were the worlds first wave piercing bow concept was tested on team philips. but it couldnt race..
