So I've seen on youtube.com that practically all uploads of the SMB3 lost levels say that one particular level (#3 if I'm correct, or level 6 in themushroomkingdom.com patch by MEGAߥTE, which is what I played in this video) is unbeatable. Everyone, even themushroomkingdom.com says that this level is not beatable, and that you have to jump in the pit to kill yourself, or use the cloud power up in the map to skip the world.

There's a simple way to beat the level without anymore hacking or patch use: just jump at the end of the scrolling and you'll find a hidden box. A musical box can be found, which will transport you to what's presumed to be lost level #10. This level has different enemies found compared to the one which requires the patch to play the level as seen in the video.

Go down the pipe and you'll be bought to a bonus coin collecting area, which looks very similar to the hidden coin area in world 1-1.

Once you exit that area, you're bought back to the beginning of level 6, but this time all black. Everything is the same in the level, so go to the end and you'll find that hidden musical box again. Jump on it and you'll be taken to what's presumed to be lost level #11. Rather than a empty level with no enemies (when using a patch to access the level), this one is full of enemies as seen in the video. Also, there is an exit!

Of note, but unrelated to the level, is if you see my items menu on the map, there's a brown anchor... I have no idea what that is and/or don't know if it's actually an unused sprite from the game or apart of the hack. But when I use it (as seen at the end of the video), nothing happens.

I'm sure I'm not the first to discover or know this amongst gamers, but I may be the first to upload it to youtube. To play the hack I specifically used, click here for the patch: http://themushroomkingdom.net/smb3_lost.shtml
Or to make things simpler, download the rom with the patch applied here: http://romhustler.net/rom/nes/1360/super-mario-bros-3
(Note with this link: you'll be downloading a compressed folder with a bunch of different SMB3 roms... pick the file that reads Lost Levels (SMB3 Hack)... there's a bunch of duplicate files, I know, don't ask me why.)

  • @Daxyn I on the other hand, appreciate that he took the time to explore every nook and cranny to see if there were any other hidden goodies around, so we wouldn't miss anything.
