I have heard both Yingwie saying Jimi is noise and one interview he said he was one of his main inspirations. Who knows? Its all a matter of opinion, who gives a fuck if he thinks Jimi is noise, that's his right too. I am not a huge Yingwie fan, "I never played Yingwie riffs" but I wouldn't mind playing a few of his songs I enjoy. I find most shred guitar "noise" but sometimes it can be beautiful.

As has been said, Malmsteen puts Jimi down in one sentence then plays in 'tribute' acts to him. He said Hendrix was 'noise' - despite backtracking later.

The guy is a no-mark compared to Jimi.

Joe Satriani acknowledges Jimi's mastery of the guitar, Malmsteen is a clown who thinks that electronic wizardry (shredding) constitutes guitar playing.

Stevie Vai is also a major fan. Two out of three ain't bad.

@PurpleLightning6was9 He said he didn't start off by playing Hendrix, and that though seeing him on smashing and burning his guitar inspired him to pick up the guitar, he didn't influence him musically. Did you even watch the video of him talking about that or did you just read the title?

Some of these replies make me sad, this is a tribute to Jimi! wtf is anyone getting uptight because he is doing a cover of Jimi, throwing his own flavor in and having fun?

Hendrix did many covers, I dont hear anyone ever flipping tits because he added his own style to a tune...

Jimi loved music and respected talented musicians and I'm sure he would be sadden and disappointed by all the hate and trash talk about this tribute.
