As the nation mourns Saturday's tragedy in Tucson and prays for Congresswoman Giffords and the others who were injured, we wanted to share this brief video from No Labels Founding Leader Kiki McLean.

  • Sadly, some of the reactions here serve only to amplify Ms. McLean's point. If you listen carefully -- which shouldn't be hard, the video is only a minute long -- she does not blame anybody for the shooting in Tuscon, nor does she attempt to politicize it. She merely states, factually, that the shooting has "sparked a conversation in America," which it most certainly has done. No Labels did not make this connection, it is merely saying the conversation is a good one to have. Isn't it?

  • To those commenters who say this video just politicizes the shooting, watch again. At no time does she say anything about politics. What she is saying is that we, as Americans, need to start engaging each other in a civil way. How can you say that that is political or exploitive?

  • Wowwwwww

    Shocked!!!I have to admit

There is still some people thinking with their own brain

I'm deeply sorry for my accusation, Glad I was wrong

  • @AnushkAAA

I have been accused of being a right wing puppet by AnushAAA. I block all cable news channels at my house. I get my news from NPR, the News Hour on PBS and The Daily Show. But that does not matter because, I am able to make my own decisions on what I think is right and wrong and this to me this was way wrong. No Labels if it was for real could have rose above the politics but it couldn't . We should be talking about mental illness not about political commentators.

  • I totally support cleaning up the "public discourse" and I thin your right on in trying to get both sides to the table to "do the right thing for the nation". What I don't agree with is using this forum or any other political forum using this tragedy of some poor mentally deranged individual in saying that anything other than his mental condition was to blame. Politics, school, parents, socio economic enviroment , religion, and god only knows what else maybe!!!!!!!

  • A message to our Politicians: I am sick and tired of seeing you publicly speak, campaign and legislate as if your political party is a sports team, as if you are representing a party and not individual Americans. The audacity and shame! If you want to treat the problems in our lives and our nation as your personal competitive sports team get out of politics and sign up for a triathlon. Grow up and act like an honorable adult not some high school teenager who wants to "score."

  • I am uncomfortable with the partisan and anti partisan posturing seeking to leveraging of the actions of a mentally ill man to a platform of discourse. The left accuses the right of contributing to the act. Palin is vilified for targeting. All such discussion contributes to our separation.

I am particularly uncomfortable with the fact the our liberties will be challenged further as he will branded as a domestic terrorist.

The fact is that this is a mentally ill man.

  • I think that No Labels represents the best possible chance that we have to restore a truly functioning government where there is a serious debate on the issues, a bipartisan attitude where people will work with each other in good faith, and where there will be reasonable compromises at the end of the day just like how there were back in the 1980's under Ronald Reagan and Tip O'Neill. Please support No Labels and share this YouTube video with people who you know!

  • @Okenville Amen. Please stop arguing semantics and start trying to prevent similar tragedies from occuring again. There is no one answer, but hate or prejudice are certainly not aimed in the direction we need.
