Sophie Kaye, founder of Sophie SoundCheck and spokeschild for the National Organization for Hearing Research Foundation, talks about her sudden hearing loss at age seven, how she persevered and overcame obstacles, and how she founded Sophie SoundCheck to teach fellow teenagers and tweens about the dangers and prevention of noise-induced hearing loss. Check out Sophie's SoundCheck List and educational resources at www.sophiesoundcheck.org.

  • I think that you should put subtitle in video so that someone with hearing loss can watch this video and know what is being said. I wanted to use this video for teaching a class. but with a student in the class with hearing loss they are unable to watch and know what was being said.

  • this is incredibly sad and inspiring. i get ringing in my ears all the time, it is really upsetting, no one understants it, for anyone who needs help describing, tell adults to put in ear plugs, that ringing they hear is what we hear all the time

  • Hearing aids? Cochlear implant?

  • how long has it been since u saw an audiologist?
