This is a live performance of Lightwire Theatrical Production's 'Cafe Floriani'.
A Commedia dell'arte production for High schools in Queensland Australia. By Lightwire www.lightwire.com.au
THE PERFORMANCE
'Café Floriani' is a production created in the tradition of Commedia dell'arte.
It is a highly entertaining and spontaneous performance offering students the opportunity to encounter and interact with a range of mask characters who demonstrate the skills and joy of this traditional European Commedia dell'arte theatre. 'Café Floriani' features comedy, improvisation and clowning within mask work which is the essence of the traditional 'theatre of the people'.
THE PRODUCTION
This production has successfully toured schools with QAC since 2001. It is directed by Tony Kishawi, a highly regarded performer, teacher and director of mask work, mime, clown and physical theatre. Tony studied Commedia with Antonia Fava in Italy and has specialised in this traditional form of theatre for over 15 years.
All three performers are highly skilled and accomplished. They have all performed with the QLD Shakespeare Ensemble plus other leading Brisbane based companies.
