NAFTA is sort of like the EU in the mid 60's. The EU now is FAR more than a free trade agreement. It's more than a confederation, less than a federation. And the fact is the US is trying to a certain extent make Europe follow its policy's and interests which is, by some Europeans, seen as trying to take control of them. Also NAFTA, if it chose to become more like the EU, wouldn't really rival it in size of population or economy. Not that it really matters.

We don't want to control the EU, it's absurd and by the way we are not Afraid of the EU. By my understanding the EU is a free trade agreement between European countries, just like the NAFTA here which is more powerful than the EU by the way. We have also rich and powerful countries in North America like the US, Canada, and Mexico forming the NAFTA just like the EU have all those western rich countries like France, UK, Spain, Italy, Germany out of the 27 member of the EU.

And we have similar thing as the EU happening in North America, which is the NAFTA. So by my understanding, the EU also is a free trade agreement between Western European country like the NAFTA. So if we have so much Allies that are member state of the EU, what are the meaning of all the negative comments?
