I looked down t her frozen body. Nothing moved. Her skin pale as a ghost. Tears formed in my dark brown orbs. My hands quickly wiped the tears away. I adjusted my breath, trying to stay calm. Rubbing my hands on my black dress; quickly drying them, as I took a seat.

All eyes were on the pastor as he walked in the middle of us. The man looked at me with sad eyes. He knew how I felt right away. "Samantha would you like to say a few words?" I took the pastors place ;as he moved aside, looking down at the coffin. Taking a deep breath and started to began...

"Liza was an amazing girl. She was there when you needed her, even if you called her up at three in the morning..
----
My hand grabbed a hold of the rail. Sitting on the stair in front of the school, feeling as my heart was shattered in a million pieces. "Sam!" I couldn't move, I knew who it was. She sat next to me, and put her arm around my shoulder.

"You could do so much better. He's just a jerk who doesn't know what he wants. Sam you can do so much better, your funny, awesome to hangout with. Psh I can go on forever, but I don't wanna waste anymore time of your life."

A giggle escaped my lips and I hugged my best friend. "I love you Liz." I whispered, "I love you too." she said back.
----
"She was like my sister but mostly my best friend...I have to go." Tears started forming again, I quickly walked far the group as I could, so they wouldn't here me cry.

"Miss." I turned to find a man; maybe in his twenties. My hands fell on a letter in his hand, written in Liz's handwriting. I slowly grabbed it and walked away without saying 'thank you'

I found I bench and sat on it. I gently traced her hand writing. I ripped the envelope eager to know what she written. 'Dear Samantha.' I covered my mouth with my hand. I know it's stupid, but imagine...being in my position, knowing the last words she ever said or wrote are in this letter.

'By the time you read this, I'll be in a coffin. I love you with all my heart. You knew, my time would come at sometime. There's no cure for cancer. You remember what I said, once my time has come. I want you to sing my favorite part of my favorite song. I didn't leave, I'm always gonna be in your heart, watching over you. Love, Liz.'
-----
I sat in a wooden chair next to her. Beep...Beep...Beep was all you could hear in the room. I grabbed her hand, as my forehead met with the soft cushion of her bed. "This can't happen. God please help her. She doesn't deserve this. I would of risk my life for hers."

As the last words escape my lips, "Bbbbbeeeeeeeeeepppppp." I looked up at the monitor seeing a straight line go across. Doctors and nurses quickly rushed in, and one pulling me out of the room, without warning.

Seeing all the action from the glass window, "Clear...Clear...Clear." the doctor kept repeating. "C'mon Liz, you've been strong for so long. Don't give up now, Please." I whispered to myself, as one of the nurses closed the curtain. Now all I could see was shadows.

Hours past, my mom woke me up as the doctor came out. He took his mask off, ashamed. "She didn't make it." I stood up, "You lied!" The doctor crossed his arms, "Excuse me."

My knuckles met with his chest. Hitting him as hard as I could. "You said she would live for three weeks, not three days!"

My mom grabbed my waist and pulled me away forcefully. "Samatha stop!"

My body let go of her grip and dropped to my knees. My hands landed on the tile floor. My whole body felt numb with pain. "Why did you leave so quickly?" I asked myself before sobbing.
---
I blinked, coming back to reality. I looked at my watch, it was time for what my best friend wished.

I walked to the pond seeing familiar faces. My mom walked towards me and gave me a hug. "Are you okay?" "Yeah, I was just thinking."

I looked to my left, seeing her coffin on a canoe ready to sail through a path of rose peddles. The pastor came to me with a microphone. Nodding at the group, two man pushed the canoe and it started flowing through the path...

"If I die young, bury me in satin. Lay me down on a, bed of roses. Sink me in the river, at dawn. Send me away with the words of a love song. The ballad of a dove. Go with peace and love. Gather up your tears, keep 'em in your pocket. Save them for a time when you're really gonna need 'em, The sharp knife of a short life, well.. I've had just enough time..."
----
"Many people will walk in and out of your life, but only true friends will leave footprints in your heart."
