This compilation is of Matt's DC-3 training conducted in June of 2009. At the time Matt received his type rating he was 19 years old. Today (1-1-2010) at 20 years old he is the youngest rated DC-3 pilot in the world.

Part 1 includes the cockpit receiving checklist, L&R engine start, taxi, run-up, takeoff, in range, gear down and landing checklist.

Part 2 includes the final items landing checklist, one touch and go landing, a takeoff with a simulated engine failure at V1 speed (watch the split manifold pressure needles on the MP instrument located on the top center panel as the instructor pulls the left engine back to simulate zero thrust). The final landing is a full stop short field landing.

  • You're so right to be a proud Dad... To see a kid flying this magic kite that was already perhaps fifty years old when Matt was born, is such a delight. I don't think that any other aircraft can take the place of the Douglas beauty as the most fundamental in all of aviation's history. Congratulations Matt, and godspeed!!

  • @sobelou Thanks so much!
