Gogtay et al in PNAS May 2004 developed a statistical model for gray matter maturation in the human brain. They then took serial MRI measurements of children from age 4-21 years. Here is a video of gray matter maturation in the human brain. Blue colors indicate greater maturity.

  • Actually think of it as heat on a turkey. But instead of heat its electricity as your brain gets older you loose activity. thats why when you get older it becomes harder to think. (altimers) but you still retain the knowledge in memory but you become less able to retrieve it. the blue parts are signs of less activity. Theoretically as we can tell the patents age by a brain scan.
