Split into two parts for viewing on our You Tube channel this film was made in order to explain to general audiences why the BT Tower (originally known as the Post Office Tower) was built and how it works. An explanation of its place in the microwave network and a brief look at the television switching centre is included. The audience is given a 'guided tour' of the BT Tower and its associated telephone exchange, from the cable inlet chamber in the basement to the viewing galleries and revolving restaurant at the top of the BT Tower.

  • Excellent film, thank-you for sharing. Is this available on DVD?

Hi, Glad you enkpoyed the film.

I'm afraid it's not on general release. However if you require a copy to DVD for private use one can be made. The cost would be £10 and some documentation would require completion.

    Regards

  • The food didn't look that great but what about the bird at 9:20? More than edible (way back then). Still love the tower. Amazing landmark to this day

  • Fantastic film - an amazing peer back in time into the world of my favourite London building and I love the spooky, electronic soundtrack, thanks :-)

  • I thoroughly enjoyed watching this.

    Thanks for posting!
