It was made by Michael Thomas. He was a master of the soundboard. Died about 10 years ago. The soundboard is cedar but I think the secret is in the soundbox. It has so much sound to spare that it accommodates a bridge 2.5 cm tall at the bass end. That may give it more sustain. Sadly clavichord design is kinda frowned upon these days.
