Strasburg Rail Road, Amish Farm, Gettysburg Rail, PA, US

The restored train run by the Strasburg Rail Road is pulled by a coal-burning steam locomotive and offers seating in open-air cars, deluxe lounge cars and first-class accommodations.

Each ride takes you past Amish farms and into the Lancaster County landscape as guides talk about the Amish way of life.

On Feb 22, 1861, President Abraham Lincoln made a stop at Leaman Place on his inaugural train ride, en route to Lancaster.


Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania

Museum offers glimpses at engines and what life was like in the train depots of old for those who want to turn their trip into an educational day.

Devoted to preserving and interpreting the broad impact of railroad development on society

Displays over 100 locomotives and cars from the mid-19th and 20th centuries, including the priceless Pennsylvania Railroad Historical Collection.

The Amish Farm & House

The 200-year old house is the centerpiece of your experience at The Amish Farm & House.

Guides will take you through the house on a 45-minute guided tour and explain the lifestyle of the Lancaster County Amish.

1803 lime kiln (one of the few remaining in Lancaster County)

1775 operational bake oven (one of the last to exist in the area)

Summer kitchen, smoke house, milk house, chicken house, windmill, waterwheel, and pumps.

Picnic areas and playground for children.

Various demonstrators (Apr through Oct).
