The music is...adventurous as the whole American film production till late 1990s. It's a pity that so humanistic, joyous and vivacious point of view as those movies had had almost completely disappeared nowadays in favour of pompous and absurd American patriotism - insane itself, indeed.

I like old war movies and new alike my the new ones for all that immense decaittation stc and the oldies for plot cheesiness lack of gore etc

BTW, can you help me with the title of a western movie? I only know the German title. It's set during the Civil War and J.Wayne is playing a yankee officer leading a raid behind confederate lines in Louisiana...

You're absolutely right about the special effects. Those movies were/are great without heads being blown off or men being ripped to pieces
"The Great Escape", The longest day", "A bridge too far"...
It's a pity that movies like these aren't made anymore. I have no problem with "Private Ryan" but modern war movies simply lack that special "charme" of the 60's and 70's...

Different times ReBa1918!.....Macho actors!....No God damn computer generated effects!...Hard drinking Brawlers, No cockeyed Scientolygy, or meditation garbage or gorging on steriod sandwiches.....McQeen,Eastwood, Bronson, Wayne all tough guys and my God are they sorely missed! lol mate!
