Finite elements and Spectral methods and their child Spectral Element methods are quite interesting. It's a shame that there are no /only unhelpfully small video lectures on youtube about these important topics.

I have found elementary mathematics to be of considerable practical utility, but logic and linguistics were light years more valuable. Being able to express yourself in such a way as to convince someone else could in certain circumstances save your life.

Not bad intro. to calculus of variations. I've been trying to understand this stuff but I can understand this professor much better than some "introductory" books I've tried to get into...
