Nice n Easy is a song that Charlie first recorded in 1964 during his stay at Groove Records; that record charted outside the top 100 pop and unlike Frank Sinatra's version, it has an aggressive swagger unsullied by the vocal chorus and blaring horns.
This particular version was recorded and released in 1970 for Epic Records and when compared to his early version, it's a bit laid back. There's a great piano solo in the middle of the song that is absolutely Charlie and yet it boggles my mind that this song, not Life's Little Ups and Downs, not Set Me Free, and certainly not July the 12th 1939, became Charlie's first top 40 country hit. Peaked at #37 on December 12th 1970...p.s. Read Peter Guralnick's Feel Like Going Home: Portraits in Blues and Rock 'n' Roll and look for his essay on Charlie. Gives you a great feel for the man.
