Nice transition from natural element to mechanical device (shark tale). How exactly do the gears work from an oscillating movement?

A fanciful idea that needs to be fully proof of concept tested and independently verified - it reminds me of the London to Paris air race early last century, remember the movie those "Magnificent men in their flying machines" - every weird and wonderful type of invention but few ended up commercialised.

Excellent visual communication of your concept. Conceptually though, I do not understand why the part has to be shaped after a shark tail..since they would be used in two different ways.
