A clip of a performance ,using the Toontracks software Superior 2 (Allaire Studios) ,triggered by the Rolnad TD20 , featuring the Indian composition "Mind the Gap" by Pete Locket.

The opening section is by far the most challenging ,containing a 4 layered polyrhythm ( right foot plays 5/16,left foot 3/16 ,right hand 4/8 and the left hand plays the reduction from 7/16 to 5,4,3, e.t.c .

Section B is played over a 3/16 ostinato .

The concluding section is performed over a 5/32 note ostinato .

A second video with analysis of this performance containing independence building exercises ,will be posted shortly!

  • That sounds great dude!!! Nice job. Exactly what I imagined people doing with the material. Post up something of you utilising the stuff in a more conventional setting as well when u have time. Nice swimming pool as well!!! They don't have much use here in London!! Reply via my web site cos I don't check messages on youtube mail box. Pete Lockett

  • genius. i knew he had something good when i saw him on benny greb's "the language of drumming" but i had no idea he was so intensely polyrythmic

  • Omg.

  • I'm a young musician of 15. You can usually find me playing my trumpet or my bass, but if i'm not there then I'll likely be composing. Recently polyrhythms have caught my attention and I've set out to master them. This video is just great. Thank you for posting.

  • WHOA! Very nice.. *applauds*

  • @petelockett ALL HAIL PETE LOCKETT !

  • great job...

  • This is REAL skill on drums!

  • .... MASSIVE ENJOYMENT.

  • When Dr. Evil isn't hellbent on world domination, you can find him jamming on his kit by the pool! But seriously this guys insane, if you look at what hes actually doing. Polyrhytms bring a whole new feel and dimension to drumming. I would even say that they are hugely underated and overlooked or even disregarded by most. They bring a whole new rhythm element that can be utilised in so many ways. (i.e. danny carey of tool). Its exciting stuff! Haha! So thanks dude for uploading this vid!

  • theres always gotta be that one jackoff who dislikes the video.
