@RusPrideAK As far as I know Israel is still occupying Palestine... You can credit the liberation of South Lebanon to Syria since they were directly arming and supporting Hizbullah while the arab world was trying disarm them. Furthermore, Assad could have liberated the Golan years ago had he followed in Sadat's footsteps, or the rest of the Arabs. Golan will be liberated when the time comes as will Palestine.

@RusPrideAK It's true, he is the only Arab leader against Israel, I don't see how you can argue that. Western style democracy doesn't work in the Arab world and it helps only Israel, so yes I support dictatorship so long as Israel is bordering Syria. It's a whole lot better than theocratic monarchies and anarchy which account for the rest of the Mideast.

Are you on something? dictatorship is based on corruption, the Syrian constitution states that its democratic and the leader has to be changed every seven years. Dictatorship is not justified by anything, don't try to defend it.

@RusPrideAK The whole Arab world (with the exception of HA armed by Syria) hasn't not laid a finger on Israel, so don't single out Syria who is not stupid enough to use conventional warfare to attack Israel, but at least they are challenging the zionists through Hamas & HA rather than get into bed with the zionists like the rest of the arabs. I am not against Bashar because he is Shi'te, but because he DOES oppress his people its a fact. 2007 elections there was only one candidate, Bashar, and they actually call that democracy, its like "ok people, you either vote for me or don't vote at all". Plus, how come he and his father never used the army against Israel after 1973? never dared to take the golan back? only used it against Islamists..
