.. and for the first time she looked at Brian with the same wondering look that she was always giving Jordan. and frankly, that was enough for me to realise how this show would have turned out if it hadn't been cancelled.

The only reason the show was cancelled was because of two things.Claire Danes didn't want to be apart of it anymore and Jared Leto thought his acting didn't compare to the other actors.I

Jordan changed? When? He seemed just as functionally retarded at the end as he did in the beginning. He's so dumb, its hard to seem as anything but a disabled person. His part doesn't even require acting. Just someone who can stand there and look confused. He's basically a clown.
I think Jordan's purpose was to illustrate how smart girls often end up with dumb guys because they imagine there's more to them. The writers probably planned to split them up from the beginning.
