I think it's a beautiful language. This language is the parent of Arabic and Hebrew. I'm arab but i would really like to learn it someday. I've not heard it spoken but in writing it's beautiful

@politicaltourist Ironically, it was the takeover of Iran by the Arabs that facilitated the primacy and total takeover of the Anti Arian branch of the Armenian Church which we today call the Armenian Orthodox Church. The Muslims were reluctant to consider Armenians who followed Arianism (God the Father is eternal but not his Son Jesus who was born after the creation of the world and had a seperate divinity to the Father) as "people of the book" because Arianism was modelled on Persian Paganism

The Armenian Orthodox Apostolic Church and the Syriac Orthodox Church are Sister Churches that are identical in their Orthodox Christian Theology. This is true of the Coptic Orthodox and the Ethiopian Orthodox Churches. The claim of the Armenians to being the "First Nation" to become Christian is regarded with placid amusement by the Syriac Orthodox. The latter still speak the language of Jesus and the disciples and were the first to spread the good news as an Organized Church from Antioch.

The pro and anti Arian theological divide between Eastern and Western Armenians died away when the Iranian Sasanide Empire was dismantled after the islamic takeover of Persia although it is believed pockets of Arianism still existed in the mountains of Karabagh as late as the 11th century! This explains why the entire liturgy in the Armenian Orthodox Church is in the ancient Western Armenian dialect (the "Ani dialect" as the centre of the anti Arian Heresy Armenian Church was based in Ani/Van
