@adam13weishaupt thats hard to say really, no one can truely say that anything different would have worked for sure since the events around the PRC's creation were very much a gamble. I'm just happy I have one country and not 100 waring provinces.

@AlternateArtisan -- Do you really think Mao was the only person who could have led China to unity and progress (such as it was)? For instance, the founder of the CCP was not Mao. It was Chen Duxiu. Why could the same or better results not have been achieved under his leadership?

120million lives were worth the price payed to keep the china intact. Were it not for Mao, the warlords would have returned and china would have suffered the same fate as yugoslavia or the ottoman empire, broken into hopelessly backwards bickering nations.
