I am very good with cars but as anyone, help can always be useful. The probe you see had a oil leak from the oil drain plug. car sat for three weeks leaking oil into the grass. i forgot like an idiot jumped in the car cos i had the need for speed and was late for work. car drove fine there. When i left work it started fine drove half way home and it started chattering "no oil". I shut the car down pulled to the side of the road went to the gas station bought 5 quarts of cheap api approved oil. put the oil in the car took every quart fired it up it chattered at the bottom end for a second stop but continued making this noise from the valve covers. drove the car home extremely under powered dynoed at over 330 whp, my 120 horsepower neon would walk away from my probe. car idles perfect but is very under powered i assume and believe it is the HLA's. but could use help to see if anyone can hear bottom end noise. thank you.

  • this is a hla that hasnt been oil filled yet. takes some time. try hla cures if it continues.

u should also replace those friciton gear springs. faulty fabricated and theres newer versions at ford n mazda

  • Oh and you might get a slight vibration from the engine being imbalanced from loss of compression in a cylinder. It will get worse as time goes on if your car has a cylinder imbalance. Unfortunately that's what happened to my FS.

  • That really high sharp sound where it almost sounds like an electrical arc is a valve hitting the top of the piston. You have a stuck valve, probably exhaust valve. You need a leak down test to determine which cylinder is causing is. Bad exhaust valve will cause loss of power, bad MPG, and heavy carbon monoxide smelling exhaust (possibly no visible signs though). Hope I'm right so you can at least get a shop to give you a diagnosis. Ask for a leak down test.

  • Ah man. Sounds like my KLZE did about 3 weeks ago before it shattered No.6 piston. It'd spun the crankshaft bearings on No.6 and it was the noise of the rod knocking against the crankshaft. It got progressively louder, at first i though it was my friction spring gear. Going to strip the engine down and perhaps stroker it. There's a video on here of a Probe GT with a spun bearing.

  • that sound is not good dude!!!!! engine is no good

  • banda del tiempo

  • Sounds like a Valve or a broken Rod Bearing

  • Never mind I vote collapsed hla

  • Sounds like spark? like a cracked plug wire or something. Otherwise tbt or friction gear
