So I love pasta, but with my recent diabetic diagnosis I've been trying to find healthier options for me. my carbs have been cut way back so I'm always trying to find something to take the place of pasta in my life. my diabetic educator nutritionist that I see told me about shirataki noodles - made of tofu and yam, she said they look like brains but they take on whatever sauce you put on them. Do I like them? find out!

  • I'm eating shirataki noodles for dinner this moment, and they are delicious. Granted, I do have some culinary skill and don't purchase very many pre-fab pre-packaged foods, so I'm sure that helps. Shirataki is NOT a pasta substitute, it's more like a ramen noodle (think mr. noodle or ichiban) would you put tomato sauce on mr. noodle? Probably not. That would be gross. If you want a pasta substitute for toamto or cream sauces, I suggest roasted spaghetti squash.

  • @lago421 Thank you for the idea!

  • you can get these ZERO calories and ZERO carbs --- and ZERO flavor if you don't buy the TOFU kind.

  • @PunisherPlaythroughs So it would be just a yam noodle then? I'm guessing I have to go to a specialty store for that? Do you know what they're called?

  • I'm sorry you didn't like it. At least you gave it a good hearty try! I'm sure you'll find an answer to this problem soon!

  • @TheTime2lose Thanks :) I hope so!

  • try dreamfields.. they are real pasta that you can not digest so or not all can be digested.. love them.. real pasta.. sooooooooooooo much better .. good luck!

  • im vegan, and i love these noodles. i eat them for dinner every night (prepared different kinds of ways of course). i love them in soup.

  • would probably taste better in a soup

  • @Salinna79 They're just Shirataki Noodles, no tofu. Those are the ones with ZERO Calories and no flavor.

  • i totally agree with you!! i tried them with the hungry girl alfredo recipe and it almost made me barf... that texture is just awful, weirdly almost crunchy, not to mention the smell. however, from everyone else, i think i might give the stir-fry sort of thing a try... maybe once they aren't wet and have heated all the liquids out they will taste ok. i know this is an old video - just wanted to say i commiserate with you!

  • It is absolutely revolting. DO NOT TRY IT. HORRIBLE.

  • Maybe you wouldn't be so fat if you didn't eat sausage crumbs and shit.

  • you have convinced me that women should not be allowed to make videos. at least you're in the kitchen.

  • please give thees noodles another try but with asian flavors. shirataki noodles are not a substitute for italian style pasta dishes, they are disgusting. try a stir fry with chicken breast lots of veggies add soy sauce, ginger and splenda also a little corn starch to thicken. delish, im going to try shirataki pad thai and pad see ew.

  • A YAK LOL!!!!
