@SciFlicksReviews Avatar proved the arrogance of big film studios who think they can throw any old shit at their audience, touch it up with special effects and 3D and think this is acceptable. You clearly liked the film because it was a simple fantasy movie with great effects and that's fair enough, but don't pretend that this film is anything more than an elaborate cash-cow.

@SciFlicksReviews Second, the bad guys having no substance. I'm sorry but the entire film had no substance, all of the characters were one dimensional and the plot was arduously simple. For a FANTASY movie that James Cameron was reported to have taken 10 years to write, people were expecting more for their money rather than a piece of cinematic fluff in 3D.

@SciFlicksReviews Only a couple of your points were valid complaints that most people had about the movie...The rest were, I dunno, a bit pointless and the people who said them do sound stoopid. The first decent point you addressed was the originality. Have you never seen Ferngully or Pocahontas? Avatar has EXACTLY the same storyline. You're right, lots of movies overlap in plot and can't avoid being compared to other movies...but the resemblence here is too obvious. Disney should sue!

This movie may have a preety nice look, but doesn't compensates for the lack of creativity in the plot and mediocre characters. Just you wait untill someone comes up with a good story to tell and puts its hands on the technology used for this movie, then I'll have something to think about it. As for Avatar, it will be forgotten, I already forgot the name of the protagonist anyway.
