In South Africas Mankwe Wildlife Reserve and spectacular Pilanesberg National Park, Earthwatch volunteers are working with a research team headed up by Dr Dawn Scott of Brighton University. The focus of their work is the threatened and little known brown hyaena - a species persecuted by livestock farmers throughout its southern African range--and fellow scavenger species such as dung beetles and vultures, all indicators species for the ecosystems' overall health.
See how Earthwatch volunteers are helping to improve the odds for these much maligned and poorly understood species and the places they call home.
