It's not JUST an example, it's a real story of something that happened to the teacher and is happening to millions. You should realize that the fact that the teacher asked Chris money doesn't just mean "Give people money so they don't ask for it", it means that there're people out there in such desperate need for money that they're not even asking relatives or close friends, they're reaching out to ANYONE THEY KNOW...essentially begging, except that you work for less money than you need to live.

In a perfect world, yes, I'd agree. The problem is, most of these people that make all kinds of money don't actually create jobs, rarely invest in things that help the economy, only things that make them more money. In fact, very often, they only donate to charity in order to avoid taxes. On that note, I also agree that the government isn't doing much better with it. The largest benefit that we could potentially gain from them paying higher taxes, is that MAYBE other taxpayers will pay less.
