Here my son catches his first and second barred surfperch fishing in Southern California. The first one he casted and retrieved completely by himself at the beach. Video by Tony B. Caught & Released May 2011.

We were using Gulp Alive Sandworm - camo, medium. Sandcrabs also do the trick though.

You know, I couldn't say. I imagine there is some sort of relationship (like crocodiles - salt vs fresh), but don't know the details. Sure fun to catch though...

@BautistaVids yeah he did a good job on his own. Im in new england so I don't think there are surf perch here.
