Susan Guidry is a candidate for the District A Council seat on the New Orleans City Council. Susan is an attorney, neighborhood leader and native of New Orleans. Most recently, Susan was a member of the litigation team that represented the Port of New Orleans and successfully settled the Port's suit against its insurers for Katrina-related damages to 22 miles of riverfront property.
Susan is president of the Parkview Neighborhood Association. She led the drive to refurbish Fire Engine #35 and repaint the firehouse after Katrina. She created the post-Katrina Block Captain System for neighborhoods to monitor re-population, provide notices for meetings and report infrastructure, street lighting, blighted housing and other issues.
Susan successfully fought to shut down a nuisance bar at 3841 Orleans Avenue.
She is a member of the District A Neighborhood President's Council. She served on the District 5 Neighborhood Recovery Steering Committee in 2006-2007. She serves on the Mid-City Security District Board of Commissioners; the Bayou St. John Conservation Alliance Steering Committee; the Mid-City Neighborhood Associaiton; and the Friends of Lafitte Corridor.
She is a graduate of Archbishop Chapelle High School, the University of Southwestern Louisiana and Loyola Law School. She lives with her husband Hervin in Parkview Neighborhood.
