To say Elvis "crushed" Perry Como's carreer is just ridiculous! They had two totally different audiences. Como was a favorite till he died. They were apples and oranges.

I don't think there could be a less interesting "musician". And the marimba...oy. There was a lot of cool stuff happening in the 50's/60's musically, and this guy was that antithesis to all of that.

where do you get this stuff from? Elvis and Perry appealed to two entirely different audiences. Elvis had no effect on Como's career.

In late 50's, in most parts of USA, I believe, Italian and Jewishcrooners, and mild jazz siners, such as Vic Damone, Mel Torme, Steve Lawrence, Perry Como, and even Sinatra, were aired in the same radio shows with elvis, Frankie Avalon, Little Richard, Jerry Lee Lewis, and so on. This may not have been true in Dixie, or in the breadbasket, I don't know, but it was true in the East Coast megalopolis.
