Yes....the raaga is Hamsanandi....one of the most emotional raagas when heard with total involvement....

You have mistaken me. I never downgraded yesudass. He is a great singer and who can forget - Amm endrazhaikatha - from film Mannan - kyakaroon sajini from film swamy etc Nobody except jesudass can sing with that perfection.

But indeed, in certain cases, this prounciation plays spoil sport, and it is the responsibility of both the singer - music director to see that is corrected.

Ilayaraja also has to take blame for not making the wordings more specific.

@nitorveritas ,yesudas's mother tongue isn't tamil so its the responsibility of the native music director or lyricist to give the necessary guidelines & make the correction. illayaraja and lyricist didn't do that,we dont know the reason...they mi8 have thought its fine. yesudas's contribution to tamil industry is immense...nee paathi naan paathi,amma endru.,pachaikkilikal..,vava anpe anpe..,endran nenjil.., etc.. are priceless classics..u cant be so harsh on a legendary singer 4 a silly mstke.

@rajeesh123 I am not degrading anybody....When it comes to music, no compromise....be it yesudass or anybody......Prounciation is the life line....I still hold my view, that Yesudass killed the melody of this song.........Mistake is mistake....Remember, Yesudass has to sing music, whaever yesudass sings CANNOT BE MUSIC....

Excellent melody by Master creator. But Yesudass, spoiled the whole song with his pronounciation.

I am hearing Mottai vizha naal anatho - why iLayaraja allowed this. I think lyrics should have been - Mottu avizha naal anatho, but Still, ilayaraja should have asked the lyrics to change it to some other words giving the same name like

' Malarnthu pooka naal aanatho'...some thing like that.

If Yesudass killed the song, why iLayaraja accepted it.

Pithagamagan Piriayae song carries the shadow of this song, probably it's the same Raaga, I'm not sure! Thanks though for sharing!!
