Anita O'Day was (she died last year) one of those truly great jazz-vocalists who inspire to sing along. There are two reasons for this: the freedom of her delivery of well-known jazz-standards (especially while scatting) and her "camp style", which is probably best expressed in one of her titles: "Who Cares". May she rest in peace! She will always be with us in her songs.

  • Who's on sax? Zoot? I must admit I don't like you intruding on her recording... I guess you're just having fun, but.... leave this master alone. :-) No offense

  • That's why I always say: You can listen to the original recording and ignore mine.

What I DON'T understand is this: YouTube allows the original recordings of those super-stars like Ella, Carmen etc. to be posted, but eliminated many of mine. - The originals COULD be downloaded, burned on disks and prevent record-sales. Mine never, because I ruined them ...

What's the logic behind this? Love, Wolf

I always knew shw was such a great performer. I sat at the bar and then comes this beautidul woman. She sits down next to me and gets me a drink. She was so vey classy. Oh I will never forget her..

  • She's the greatest!!!!!

  • @theclavious I AM THE GUY (wolf175 or wolf1750), a total musical mateur, who never had a singing lesson in his life.

  • wolf1750 I must confess I was also looking for this version of the song until I found you were the one singing.with Anita It's pretty cool.

  • Get out of those records!!!!!!

  • That's a cute answer. ;-) Thanks! Wolf

  • Wooops! I just realized what you mean about some being allowed. You have "embellished" other releases from Anita, and you indicate that they are "allowed". So, forget my earlier comment.

I now pontificate that it's just darned arbitrary! Hmm, I dunno, but maybe THAT's it... :-I
