They lost some great drivers between the 1960 and '61 Indy. One of whom was Tony Bettenhausen. Paul Russo couldn't get any speed out of his car and asked Tony if he could shake it down for him. Slowing down after the run, the car went violently right, taking out about 300 feet of fence and wrapping the car all up. It was a sad day.
Two others were Jimmy Bryan and Johnny Thomson. Jimmy at his fave track, Langhorne. Johnny at Allentown. Both were driving sprints at dirt tracks.
God bless dan wheldon, eddie sachs, and every other gladiator that didn't make it out of our great arena with their life....Forever Our HEROS!!
